Very clean city, polite drivers, calm and warm people, great prices for touristic objectives and souvenirs.
Breb, Săpânța, Sighetul Marmației, Creasta Cocosului were some of the visited locations and they did not disappoint at all, worth a second and third and forth trip :)
I ate in Baia Mare at La Pălincie and at Millennium La Tour, food extremely good, very fast serving, very nice waiters and experience.
It's easy to get around Baia Mare, it's not a very big city, Waze always helps :)
The Mocănița trip was nice also, but too long and very bumpy on the way back. 2 hours one way, 1.5 hours break, then 2 more hours back, traveling with 10-13 km/h. This I would not do again, but I do not regret the experience, it's worth going once!

After the Satu Mare, the Baia Mare was a pleasant surprise.
After the Satu Mare, the Baia Mare was a pleasant surprise. Very nice town with beautiful museums, excellent modern gallery, small planetarium, a tranquil city park with enormous trees... Local product and food are good and really chip. Baia Mare area also offers a lot: a bit of history and tradition, excellent traditional food even for vegetarians (boletus mushroom f.e.), hikes, unusual rok and mountain formations... a We found magic trout farm with a restaurant in Mara village- Pastrvaria Alex - must visit if you are in the area! We loved our short stay there, it was an absolute positive surprise, we plan to return.
take notice. the "hotel" is an old cinema. you climb a flight of stairs in order to get to the floor where (i think were some technical rooms or changing rooms) the rooms are. my room was small, mostly clean (except the top of the wardrobe (there was a tv placed there and i used the USB ports to charge my phone and my camera(s) so i noticed a lot of dust. the bath was clean, the sheets were fresh, the towels were fresh.
Easily the best and nicest property I’ve stayed in in Baia Mare. New building, high end finishes in the common areas and the apartment itself is immaculately clean and well taken care of. All the furniture is extremely comfortable and the location is perfect. 5 minute walk to the Old Center and right across the street from the taxi stand. Perfect for me and will be my “home” in Baia Mare from now on.
The lady who met us at reception (and later served us dinner on the terrace) was simply extraordinary! A wonderfully warm and zany character who made us all feel very welcome and made us laugh! Was she the owner I wonder? She really made a big effort to look after us! We'd definitely stay there again. Breakfast was fine, the standard romanian hotel breakfast of 3 or 4 variations of omlette!
wonderful place to stay in this awesome city!
the location could not be any better … miles of parks beside the hotel, and yet also very close to all historic sites etc
the hosts are great, and the food in the restaurant is top notch
the accommodations are modern, and clean. excellent bed, and quiet for a good sleep.
Highly recommend
A really good place to stay in Baia Mare. Check-in/check-out 100% online (you will receive all instructions in a message sent by the host). Nice self service area with coffee, tea and soft drinks. Comfortable and clean apartments. Private parking space. The place is rather for car owners, as it is quite far from the city center.
Very clean and many facilities for family or couples. There is a nice view from the balcony and it's also very close to attractions in the city. The person in charge was very involved in fulfilling our every need. You can book this place with no trouble, I am sure we will return here if we ever visit Baia Mare again.
Don't miss dinner in the hotel's restaurant. Meat is amazing, and trust in the waiter's advice for wines!
The parking place is just in the front of the hotel, in the hotel yard
The hotel has a nice garden too, with a pool and a pool bar.
It is not our first time at this hotel, and the fact we are coming back says we are enjoying the stays. The hotel is clean, the staff is great, the rooms are big, the pools are great, so are the massages.
Very good breakfast, beautiful homemade bread. A sunny beautiful room.
The hotel is perfectly situated in a beautiful square. The northern part of Romania is stunning & interesting.
